Although there was no confirmed date for the release of Mass Effect 3, we did know that they would try for a “holiday season” release. This coincided with another huge release, the new Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.
BioWare released a statement that “Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012.” Adding that they are “focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.”
Of course, we have no official line from BioWare as to why it is delayed; however, it is a possibility that they seized the chance to remove it from Skyrim’s grasp, potentially helping both titles to do better in terms of sales, not that it is an expected problem with either of these massive hits.
We also have to remember that it could be technical difficulties – BioWare are using a new engine for this title, coupled with being the series’ finale, then BioWare, understandably, want to remove all blemishes.
